I was in Italy on my honeymoon, but Italy exudes history in every corner. There are so many incredible places to visit that it’s hard to choose. That’s why I decided to share my list of 10 must-see attractions in the Italian capital.
These places capture the essence of Rome, from its ancient ruins to its baroque squares and world-class museums. I’ll tell you a little about each of them and give you tips to make the most of your time in Rome. Prepare to fall in love with Rome as much as I did!

History of the Flavian Amphitheatre

The amphitheater could seat up to 80,000 spectators and was used for gladiators, animal hunts, and other public spectacles.

The tradition of throwing coins into the fountain is irresistible. I threw a coin over my left shoulder, ensuring my return to Rome.
At night, the lighting transforms the fountain into a magical setting. It’s the perfect time to take unforgettable photos.
Tip: arrive early to avoid the crowds and make the most of the experience.
Piazza Navona
Piazza Navona enchanted me with its unique oval shape. The three magnificent fountains are the highlight of the square.
The Fountain of the Four Rivers, a work by Bernini, is simply impressive. I spent hours admiring the details of the sculptures.
Street artists and charming cafes bring the square to life. I sat down at one of the gelaterias to enjoy a gelato and watch the people go by.

Piazza di Spagna and the Spanish Steps
Piazza di Spagna is one of the most elegant spots in Rome. The famous Spanish Steps are the center of attention.
I climbed the 135 steps to the top, where the views of the city are breathtaking. It’s a perfect spot to watch the sunset.
The boat-shaped fountain at the base of the staircase, Fontana della Barcaccia, is a masterpiece by Bernini.
The surrounding streets are a paradise for shoppers, with famous designer stores.

Rome is a foodie’s paradise. So get ready for an unforgettable culinary journey, exploring authentic flavors and frozen desserts that will delight your taste buds.
Authentic Flavors of Trastevere
Trastevere is the heart of Roman cuisine. I love wandering through its cobblestone streets, following the irresistible aroma of home-cooked food.
First of all, my tip is to try the pasta alla carbonara at Da Enzo al 29, it’s simply divine! For pizza lovers, I recommend La Renella, a century-old bakery that serves crispy slices.
Don’t forget to try saltimbocca alla romana at a local trattoria. It’s a typical dish that melts in your mouth.
Traditional Ice Cream Shops
Italian gelato is a masterpiece. I always stop at Giolitti, the oldest gelateria in Rome.
My favorite flavor is pistachio, but I try a different one every time I visit. Fatamorgana is also worth a visit, with its unusual combinations like lavender and honey.
For a unique experience, head to Gelateria del Teatro. They use fresh, seasonal ingredients to create amazing flavors.
